Released in 2026, The Twilight Sad album was created over a period of seven years and is characterized by tales of loss and personal crisis. With haunting, guitar-rich arrangements by Andy MacFarlane and the unmistakably passionate vocals of James Graham, "It's The Long Goodbye" marks another high point in the band's work and underlines their ability to transform lived experiences into deeply felt music that can be felt with all the senses. They became known to a growing audience not least through their numerous concerts with The Cure. The Cure singer Robert Smith, who has become a close friend of the band over the years, also provided invaluable help and can also be heard as a guest musician on the album. He played additional guitar parts on "Waiting For The Phone Call", contributed guitars to "Dead Flowers" and a six-string bass to "Back To Fourteen". All of this results in the most personal and at the same time most accessible album to date by the band, who have long forged close bonds with their audience with their portraits of troubled and often broken people.
