Pink Floyd Live from the Los Angeles Sports Arena, April 26, 1975 puts the band in the spotlight during their rapid rise to fame. The Dark Side of the Moon had transformed Pink Floyd from a hugely successful British breakout band into one of the biggest rock groups in the world. Arenas and stadiums now played host to their performances. The Wish You Were Here Tour was announced in early March 1975, just one month before it began. The shows sold out immediately and broke box office records, including that of the Los Angeles Sports Arena, which sold all 67,000 tickets for the scheduled four shows in a single day. An additional fifth show hinted at a residency - and this too sold out in a matter of hours. The recording that forms the basis for this historic release was made by the late bootlegger Mike "Mike the Mic" Millard, whose tapes of concerts in Los Angeles in the 1970s became famous for their astonishingly clear sound quality. To conceal his recording equipment from security, Millard often pretended to have a disability and attended concerts in a wheelchair. Many of his bootlegs were unofficially pressed on vinyl, but he refused to sell his recordings for profit. Pink Floyd's penultimate concert at the Los Angeles Sports Arena was no exception - it remained unreleased and known only to a few collectors. Until now. Carefully restored and remastered by Steven Wilson, this is the definitive live recording of Pink Floyd's 1975 tour. At the time of the shows at the Los Angeles Sports Arena, Pink Floyd were in a period of creative change. While a new album had originally been expected in early 1975, the band embarked on their North American tour while still developing new music live on stage. The concert began with early versions of songs initially called 'Raving and Drooling' and 'You've Got To Be Crazy', which later became 'Sheep' and 'Dogs', which eventually appeared on their tenth album Animals. Shine On You Crazy Diamond framed another new composition in two parts: 'Have A Cigar'. The band then played The Dark Side of the Moon in full, with 'Echoes' as an encore.
