"Crime Of The Century" is Supertramp's third album, originally released in September 1974 and produced by Ken Scott and Supertramp. It was the band's commercial breakthrough in both the US and the UK, helped by the UK hit "Dreamer" and the US hit "Bloody Well Right". It reached the top 10 album charts in the UK and was a top 40 album in the US, where it was certified gold in 1977. In Canada, it stayed in the charts for over two years and sold over a million copies. The album was praised by critics, including being included in Rolling Stone's "50 Greatest Prog Rock Albums of All Time". "Crime of the Century" deals loosely with the themes of loneliness and mental stability, but is not a concept album. Davies deliberately linked the opening track "School" to "Bloody Well Right" with the line "So you think your schooling is phoney", and according to Hodgson, any point of connection beyond that was left to the listener's imagination. Under the supervision of the band and co-producer Ken Scott, this 50th anniversary reissue was remastered by Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios at half speed, giving them more detail and the best possible clarity. This Supertramp studio album is released on black 1LP.
