Bay Area thrashers Vio-Lence are back and are hitting us with "Flesh From Bone", their first new song in 29 years! The track comes from the upcoming Let the World Burn EP, the first release since 1993's Nothing to Gain. The five songs will be released via Metal Blade Records.
"This is the first Vio-Lence song I've written in almost 30 years," admits founding guitarist Phil Demmel. "I wanted to retain some of the early qualities of Eternal Nightmare (debut album, 1988), but incorporate much of what I've accumulated in my songwriting arsenal over the decades. "Flesh From Bone" has the frenetic picking/fingering riffs and solo changes that are pretty old-school, spiced up with some Exodus and Slayer inspired riffs."
Frontman Sean Killian adds, "'Flesh From Bone' reflects the true suffering of people in the dark times of history. Laws and rules made by the likes of Vlad the Impaler were not to be broken, and if you did, you were sentenced to be staked or worse. To die in battle meant to suffer." "For 34years, a creation called the Eternal Nightmare has brought back memories to people all over the world. Now it's time to create new memories in 2022," Killian says. "I'm very proud of the new music we've created, and we're lucky to have collaborated with some very creative people. Nothing here is too polished, unless broken glass and broken razor blades are what you mean by polished. I love creating, and we hope your heads explode when you hear the new Vio-Lence!"
In addition to Demmel and Killian, Let The World Burn features original drummer Perry Strickland, former Overkill guitaristBobby Gustafson and former Fear Factory bassist Christian Olde Wolbers. Let the World Burn was recorded with Juan Urteaga at Trident Studios (Testament, Machine Head, Exodus) and mixed by Tue Madsen (The Haunted, Meshuggah) and Grammy Award-winning engineer Ted Jensen (Alice In Chains, Deftones, Pantera).
