Innovative as ever, Víkingur creates two musical soundscapes that appeal to both traditional and streaming-only audiences Inspired by an encounter with the iconic Hungarian composer György Kurtág, this album is a musical response with works by Kurtag, Bach, Brahms, Mozart, Ades, Schumann, Birgisson and Kaldalons. The album "From Afar" contains 3 new arrangements by pianist Víkingur and a world premiere recording. Beautifully evocative titles and forgotten melodies form a thread of stories within a larger structure: nature, home, childhood, family. The works were recorded both on the grand piano and on the piano.
