Cape Verdean singer Cesária Évora is revered by a multitude of remixers who treat her vocals with great respect. You have to be very open-minded to hear the "Queen of Morna," nicknamed the "Barefoot Diva," being remixed and polished by today's hot remix stars. The great opening track "Petit Pays" by Chateau Flight comes in a hypnotic background trance beat that is intriguingly different. Carl Craig brings "Angola" back to Africa with a minimal and percussion-heavy mix. A real club striker is Francois K's version of the last track "Sangue De Beirona", a strong example of how to bring Evora's voice to the mainfloor where it belongs. In 2013, Belgian singer Stromae recorded "Ave Cesaria," a track that pays tribute to Évora, one of his favorite artists. "Club Sodade" is an album by Cesaria Evora with songs remixed by different producers. The album does not contain new tracks, but her greatest hits remixed by well-known producers from the house scene. Some of the remixed songs are "Sodade" (DJ Rork & Demon Ritchie Mix), "Besame Mucho" (Señor Coconut's Chachacha Remix), "Petit Pays" (Château Flight Remix) and "Angola" (Get Down Dub & Bateau Ivre Rework by Pepe Bradock). Other producers doing remixes on this album are Carl Craig, 4Hero and Kerri Chandler among others. "Club Sodade" is available in a limited edition of 1000 individually numbered copies on Translucent Red vinyl.
