The Janoska Ensemble has carefully selected this monumental, timelessly beautiful and important work for its fourth album: On the one hand, because - fully committed to its own "Janoska style" and thus to the credo of improvisation - baroque music per se and tried and tested and ideally suited for virtuoso realization. On the other hand, the genre was just as decisive for the four virtuosos, as these are four highly demanding violin concertos that have always been firmly anchored in the ensemble's repertoire for the two violinists.
It would not be the Janoska Ensemble if this fusion of original and interpretation were enough: In addition, each of the four virtuoso musicians composes his or her "own" one-movement season, quasi woven into Vivaldi's concerto template, thus linking the chosen season to his or her own instrument. It is no coincidence, for example, that Julius chooses autumn for his instrument, the double bass, and the associated scenario of hunting, harvest festival and peasant dance.
Vivaldi composed his Seasons in 1725 - so we will soon be celebrating the 300th anniversary of this masterpiece: another reason to send "The Four Seasons" on a world tour in Janoska style.
