Popis
This album is the eighth in a series of orchestral works by Paul Wranitzky, who, compared to his friend Mozart, began composing late in life but quickly became Vienna's most important symphonist at the end of the 1790s. The dramatic "Grande sinfonie caracteristique pour la paix avec la Republique francoise" depicts the French Revolution and France's subsequent war with Austria. Due to political complications, its performance in Vienna was banned by imperial decree, but this did not end Wranitzky's success at court: the exuberant Symphony in D major and the charming "Hunting Symphony", both unpublished, come from the collection of the emperor's brother. This series was received with great critical acclaim. The Czech Chamber Philharmonic Pardubice is appreciated for its stylistic interpretations and the exceptional quality of its orchestral sound. It frequently performs at the most prestigious festivals in the Czech Republic and at venues throughout Europe, including the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, the Großes Festspielhaus in Salzburg and the Meistersingerhalle in Nuremberg. Outside Europe, the orchestra has performed in Japan and has toured extensively in America. The Czech conductor Marek Stilec is known as an interpreter of the classical orchestral repertoire and is a specialist in Czech romantic and contemporary music. He has worked with orchestras all over the world, including the New World Symphony, the Ulster Orchestra, the Berlin Camerata, the Kammerphilharmonie Graz and the Sinfonietta Bratislava. He has recorded over 30 albums. In the field of historically informed performance practice, Stilec has worked with ensembles such as the Czech Ensemble Baroque and Ensemble 18+.
