The Kronos Quartet from San Francisco has invited the two Iranian singers Mahsa and Marjan Vahdat to cooperatein a CD. The music on the CD are14 songs composed by Mahsa Vahdat to classical Persian poems by Hafez and Rumi and the contemporary poets Forough Farrokhzad and Mohammad Ibrahim Jafari. Fourcontemporary composers have arranged the songs for string quartet and vocalist. In three of the songs Mahsa and Marjan sing together as a duet. The arrangers are Sahba Amenikia (Iranian/American), Aftab Dervishi (Iranian/Dutch), Jacob Garchik (American) and Atabak Elyasi (Iranian).
