Suite für Cembalo Nr. 7 G-Dur
For her first solo album on Linn - she has already performed three times with her Duo Pleyel partner Richard Egarr, and will continue to do so in the future! - Alexandra Nepomnyashchaya has chosen the courageous path of recording the little-known Gottlieb Muffat. The son of Georg Muffat, who is probably known to most baroque enthusiasts, achieved far greater success in his professional life and was eventually promoted to become the first organist of the Austrian Habsburg court. On this double album, Alexandra has recorded the lavish Componimenti musicali per il cembalo, a collection of seven 'suites' rich in texture, emotional range and extravagant decoration. The breathtaking ornaments, carefully notated in the magnificent score, lend the performance additional expressive power. These works represent one of the highlights of music for keyboard instruments from the mid-18th century and deserve their place in the repertoire.
