"Pure beauty is the common tone of Trygve Seim and Frode Haltli. There is something folk-song-like in this music - intersections where secular and sacred music meet to dance." This is what DIE ZEIT wrote in 2008 about the duo's debut album, entitled Yeraz. This statement is still true today, although the relationship between the saxophonist and the accordionist has become even more fluid and dreamlike in the meantime. On Our Time, Trygve and Frode exchange contrapuntally-motivated sidelong glances, lyrical intensifications and explorations of musical texture with grace, eloquence and extreme nuance. In this way, they present a program of original compositions, improvisations and thoughtful reinterpretations of traditional songs from Ukraine and northern India. Recorded at the Himmelfahrtskirche in Munich in 2023 and produced by Manfred Eicher, Our Time indeed unites the tone of the saxophonist and the accordionist in a surreal and magical dance.
