Domino was a big man in both build and talent. And while he was no Little Richard, cavorting behind the keys, he was the most consistent hitmaker of the Fifties. Inspection of the R&B and Hot Hundred charts between April 1950 and December 1960 reveals that he registered 58 hits, 18 of them million-sellers. Only Elvis outsold him. Six decades after his first recordings, one thing remains the same, if great rock’n’roll is the name of the game, Domino is hard to beat.
