"Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars", or "Ziggy Stardust" for short, is the fifth studio album by the legendary British rock musician.
released in 1972, the concept album is about a promiscuous and drug-addicted rock star who has been scarred by his life. Between hard rock and glam rock, pop and art rock, Bowie tells the story in a total of eleven songs, including the single "Starman" and the title track "Ziggy Stardust".
The musician recorded the album together with his producer Ken Scott at Trident Studios in London. Scott had already produced "Honky Dory" (1971). Bowie received musical support on "Ziggy Stardust" from Mick Ronson (guitar, piano, backing vocals, string arrangements), Trevor Bolder (bass), Mick Woodmansey (drums), Rick Wakeman (keyboards) and Dana Gillespie (vocals on the song "It Ain't Easy").
The album reached number five in the UK album charts.
This will be the first Blu-ray audio and physically available Atmos mix for David Bowie. The audio was mixed from the multitrack tapes at the famous RAK Studios in London by original co-producer Ken Scott. The Blu-ray contains the Dolby Atmos mix as well as a new 2024 stereo mix of the album.
