Popis
It is the soundtrack to his complex vision, and every sound the listener hears represents a part of the mystical story he had in mind. Jon Anderson's distinctive "Yes" voice is accompanied by acoustic guitar, keyboards and some very interesting and varied percussion. As a result, it's not easy, but it's cohesive. The album is heartfelt and spiritual, a carefully and masterfully crafted surreal journey from start to finish. Esoteric Recordings is proud to announce the release of a new expanded and remastered 2-disc edition of YES vocalist JON ANDERSON's classic debut solo album, "Olias of Sunhillow." Released in July 1976, the album was a conceptual work telling the story of an alien race that sets out to find a new world after the volcanic destruction of their home planet. All the music on the album was written and performed by Jon Anderson. The recording took place at Anderson's home studio in Buckinghamshire while Yes took a break after touring to promote the album "Relayer". Originally recorded on an 8-track tape machine, the arrangements were then re-recorded on a 24-track tape machine. On the album, Jon recorded the music entirely on his own, teaching himself to play keyboards and acknowledging the influence of such legendary musicians as Rick Wakeman, Patrick Moraz and Vangelis on his work. It was even rumored that Vangelis had contributed to the album, but the maestro denied this in interviews. "Olias of Sunhillow" was released in the summer of 1976 by Atlantic Records in an elaborate gatefold sleeve designed by David Fairbrother-Roe and was a top ten album in the UK. This Esoteric Recordings edition has been remastered from the album's original master tapes and fully restores the stunning original artwork. It also includes a booklet with a new essay and an exclusive interview with Jon Anderson. In the following years, the outstanding quality of the album has led to many appeals to remix the album in a 5.1 surround sound format. Unfortunately, despite intensive research, the multitrack masters of the album cannot be found. However, this expanded edition of "Olias of Sunhillow" includes a DVD with a high-resolution 96 kHz / 24-bit remaster of the stereo mix, plus a high-resolution 5.1 surround sound upmix derived from the original stereo master tapes as an additional feature.
