S'impugni la spada
This album pays tribute to Antonio Vivaldi's compositions for countertenor and for soloists from three different instrumental families: strings, woodwinds (flute) and brass (horn). It contains the now famous arias from "Orlando furioso" and "La verità in cimento", the violin concerto RV241, which Johann Georg Pisendel, a leading violinist, friend and pupil of Vivaldi, brought back from Venice in 1717, a flute concerto and sacred vocal music, most of which is written for solo voice. The Café Zimmermann ensemble, which has been playing Vivaldi's music with passion since it was founded more than 25 years ago, conceived this broad and varied panorama together with the French countertenor Pau-Antoine Bénos-Djian - a true "best of" Vivaldi's oeuvre.
