Joni Mitchell stunned audiences at the Newport Folk Festival last summer with a surprise performance - her first in 20 years - in which she delivered a heartfelt program of some of her greatest songs. Mitchell's triumphant return to the stage on July 24, 2022 will be featured on a new live album from Rhino, "Joni Mitchell At Newport," which will be released on CD, 2LP black vinyl and limited edition 2LP clear vinyl. It was produced by Brandi Carlile, who works closely with Mitchell. Mitchell was joined on stage at the Newport Folk Festival by a stellar band led by 9-time GRAMMY® Award winner Brandi Carlile. Other performers included Carlile's bandmates Phil and Tim Hanseroth, Wynonna Judd, Marcus Mumford, Celisse, Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig of Lucius, Taylor Goldsmith of Dawes and many more. Mitchell wowed the audience by mixing her voice with the other singers on stage on classics like "Big Yellow Taxi," "A Case Of You" and "Both Sides Now." She even showed off her guitar skills, performing an instrumental solo version of "Just Like This Train."
