Home sweet home
You could say it's his second home: London's Royal Albert Hall. Blues rock legend Eric Clapton has played no fewer than 200 concerts there, the first on December 7, 1967 as a member of the Yardbirds. Since then, many legendary performances have followed in the famous concert hall, including the memorial concert for George Harrison in 2002 and the "Cream Reunion Concert" with the original line-up in 2005.
It is no wonder that the singer and guitarist returned here to celebrate his 70th birthday, for seven concerts between 14 and 23 May 2015. A best-of his program is now available with "Slowhand At 70 - Live At The Royal Albert Hall".
Together with his band, consisting of singer, guitarist, keyboardist and former Mike & the Mechanics member Paul Carrack, drummer Steve Gadd, Fourplay bassist Nathan East, keyboardist Chris Stainton and singers Sharon White and Michelle John, the three-time member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame really fired up the audience.
In addition to some blues classics, Clapton and his band performed many of his greatest hits on these evenings, including "Crossroads", "Tears In Heaven", "I Shot The Sheriff", "Cocaine" and "Layla".
With "Slowhand At 70 - Live At The Royal Albert Hall", they have captured a total of 18 songs from the program for posterity, and in many different formats. The album is available either as a DVD or Blu-ray, as a double CD with DVD, as an LP or as a three-LP set plus DVD.
He can't do without them, they can't do without him: Eric Clapton and the Royal Albert Hall. This magical constellation has been inspiring audiences for 50 years. "Slowhand At 70 - Live At The Royal Albert Hall" brings them to your home.
