Drummer Gard Nilssen's debut on ECM comes after he participated in highly regarded recordings with the Maciej Obara Quartet and with Mathias Eick. Elastic Wave presents Nilssen's powerful trio with fellow Norwegian André Roligheten on saxophone and Swedish bassist Petter Eldh (recently heard with Kit Downes). The group's dynamic interplay, danceable pulse and distinctive themes - all three players contribute compositions - make Acoustic Unity one of the most interesting bands on the scene today The trio interprets stirring anthems and understated ballads with equal measures of verve and conviction. Elastic Wave was recorded in June 2021 at La Buissonne Studios in the South of France.
