"Wings Over America", released in 1976 and culled from 90 hours of recordings, is a faithful account of the 1975-76 world tour, capturing the band at their peak. It was recorded at several of the US shows, but mixed as if it were a single performance. Paul combined old Beatle favorites with highlights from his solo catalog, which was now reaching true stature. Despite being an expensive triple CD on vinyl (a double CD was planned, but a competing bootleg version encouraged Paul to expand it), sales were substantial and it remains one of the few live albums to make it to number one in America - incidentally, the band's fifth number one album in a row.
