Popis
"There may not yet be as many recordings of Bach's cello suites as there are stars in the sky - but there are certainly just as many ways of interpreting this magnificent music, both in performance and in philosophical approach." (Anastasia Kobekina) An extraordinary chapter in Anastasia Kobekina's career reaches its climax: the pioneering cellist releases her recording of the complete cello suites by Johann Sebastian Bach. Since receiving the Leonard Bernstein Award and an Opus Klassik in 2024 and ARD's feature-length documentary "Jetzt oder nie! " about her, Kobekina's career has taken off at a rapid pace. With her interpretation of the six suites for violoncello solo - a musical "Mount Everest" for cellists - Kobekina wants to open up a "shared space of interpretation": one for her - and for us. As with her highly acclaimed album "Venice" (jpc 11636359), she promises a fresh take on well-known music. She performs on various historical instruments, namely two Stradivari cellos (from 1698 and 1717) and a piccolo cello - with a deep understanding of historical performance practice. The cello suites are the works that have accompanied Anastasia Kobekina for a very long time and which she has performed most frequently to date. "The dialectical nature of the suites - their inner dialog, their contrasts - has always fascinated me," she says. "Their language is abstract, architectural, rational and logical - and at the same time passionate, emotional and deeply personal for the interpreter." The works are among Bach's most introspective and admired compositions. Each suite consists of a prelude and a series of dance movements. The mystery surrounding their composition also contributes to their legendary status: No original manuscript exists - only a copy by Anna Magdalena Bach, the composer's second wife. The original dedicatee is also unknown to this day. Anastasia Kobekina, who studied baroque cello with Kristin von der Goltz in Frankfurt / Main, succeeds in creating an immediate connection with the audience with "almost overwhelming sincerity" (The Strad) and impressive musicality, going beyond pure technical mastery. "You sometimes completely forget you're listening to a cello", wrote the British Gramophone magazine about her album "Venice". Anastasia Kobekina was a BBC New Generation Artist and Borletti-Buitoni Fellow and signed with Sony Classical in 2024. In February 2025, ARD broadcast the four-part documentary "Anastasia Kobekina: Now or Never". This summer, she returns to the BBC Proms in London, where she made her debut in 2024. In summer 2025, Kobekina will be Artist in Residence at the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and the Beethovenfest Bonn.
