The composer François de Roubaix was born in 1939. He received no formal musical training, but became interested in jazz at the age of 15. His professional musical career lasted only ten years, from 1965 to 1975, during which time he composed for commercials, television series, short films and about 30 full-length films.
The most striking thing about François de Roubaix's music is its versatility: on the one hand, his ability to create simple, memorable melodies; on the other, his bold experiments with different timbres and recording techniques. He combined folk and electronic instruments at will and welcomed the advent of the first synthesizers and rhythm boxes. The fact that he was a multi-instrumentalist provided him with a high degree of artistic freedom, as he spent many hours in his home studio overdubbing the various parts of his scores until he achieved the desired result.
"Du Jazz À L'Electro 1965-1975" is a brand new compilation album of compositions by Francois de Roubaix. It contains previously unreleased and hard to find compositions from television series such as "Les Survivants" and "Tarif De Nuit". This compilation also includes compositions for commercials for "Cointreau", "Muratti" and "Fiat Coupé". "Du Jazz À L'Electro 1965-1975" is available in a limited edition of 1500 individually numbered copies on Solid Yellow vinyl in a gatefold sleeve with liner notes and background information on the compositions.
