Vocal guest stars Norah Jones and Willie Nelson make this Blue Note album by saxophonist and flutist Charles Lloyd an event far beyond the jazz scene! Lloyd is an undisputed star of international jazz, even though he never strikes loud notes with his very own mixture of modern jazz, spiritual music, rock and folk. Music with soul nevertheless prevails over widespread consonance. The 77-year-old's love of experimentation has always been legendary. Fortunately, this does not mean "exhausting sounds" as with some colleagues, but also in the case of the new album "I Long To See You" deeply relaxed, multi-layered jazz sounds with a healthy dose of folk, rock and country. Charles Lloyd proudly calls his new ensemble "The Marvels", and the sound of the quintet is truly marvelous, not least due to the unmistakably flowing soundscapes of guitar legend Bill Frisell.
