Decca has brought together two of its most important artists - and an orchestra on top form - for a new release of the violin concertos by Sibelius and Prokofiev. Janine Jansen is the soloist in both works, releasing her first new concerto recording in nine years. Sibelius' violin concerto is differently colored than its counterparts in the romantic literature. The combination of fire and ice - of ostentation and introversion - is a facet of the score that Jansen has always made her own. Her performances of the work on tour with Mäkelä in 2023 were highly praised by European critics. In addition to the work by Sibelius, Jansen plays one of the most important violin concertos of the twentieth century.
