Annie Clark made her recording debut as St. Vincent in 2007 with "Marry Me" and was quickly hailed as one of the most innovative and intriguing phenomena in modern music. Following her 2021-2022 world tour, which cemented St. Vincent's status as one of live music's preeminent figures with headline performances at the Hollywood Bowl and Radio City Music Hall, Clark began work on her seventh album: 'All Born Screaming', her first fully self-produced album (having co-produced all previous works), is St. Vincent at her most original. With songs like the powerful "Broken Man", the biting catwalk sashay through the deafening assault of self-loathing "Big Time Nothing" and the gorgeously catchy "Sweetest Fruit", "All Born Screaming" is equal parts spiritual despair and rapturous acceptance. "When you're born screaming, it's a great sign," says Clark, "because it means you're breathing. You're alive. My God! It's a feeling of happiness. And then it's also a protest. We're all born under protest in a way. It's terrifying to be alive, it's ecstatic to be alive. It's everything."
