This tribute to Jerome Kern (1885 - 1945) was recorded in 1959 as a trio with Ray Brown on bass and Ed Thigpen on drums. Peterson had recorded an earlier Jerome Kern Songbook LP in 1953 when the trio consisted of Ray Brown and guitarist Barney Kessel Three Kern songs not recorded for the 1959 album, which Peterson rarely played, were added as a bonus.
