Popis
The fourth installment of this varied and instructive series in which Douglas Bostock and the Südwestdeutsches Kammerorchester Pforzheim explore the history of British music for strings is a group picture with a lady. As a representative of the fairer sex and at the same time the youngest among her colleagues, Imogen Holst, the daughter of the man who achieved world fame through his planets, speaks the most advanced language among the assembled composers, who are nevertheless united by a common attitude: Creatively, they consistently follow in the footsteps of the old masters and come up with many an idea to lure the spirit of past centuries into their present. This is probably done in the form of variations or in the shape of a sounding stele, but mostly en suite, so to speak - with great taste and that pleasant conservatism that is so typically British.
