In September 2022, "Moonage Daydream," the first officially sanctioned film about David Bowie, will be released in theaters. The companion album to the highly acclaimed documentary by director Brett Morgen (including "The Kid Stays in the Picture," "Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck," "Jane") will be released the following day, September 16, via Parlophone Records. "Moonage Daydream" illuminates the life and genius of David Bowie, one of the most prolific and influential artists in recent music history. At feature length, Brett Morgen takes us into Bowie's world, exploring his creative, musical and spiritual journey through magnificent, diverse and never-before-seen footage, live performances and music (Morgen sifted through the David Bowie Estates archives for four years). Throughout the film, we are guided by the narrator voice of David Bowie himself The companion album to "Moonage Dream" features songs from throughout Bowie's career, including previously unheard material, mixes made especially for the film and this album, and passages of Bowie in conversation. Track listing highlights include a previously unreleased live medley of "The Jean Genie / Love Me Do / The Jean Genie," recorded at the infamous final Ziggy Stardust concert at London's Hammersmith Odeon in 1973 and featuring Jeff Beck on guitar. Other rarities include an early version of the Hunky Dory favorite "Quicksand" and a previously unreleased live version of "Rock'n'Roll With Me" recorded on the legendary "Soul Tour" in 1974. A first appetizer is already available today in the form of "Modern Love (Moonage Daydream Remix)". One of Bowie's biggest and most beloved hits worldwide is brought to us in a new way here in a unique mix, starting with the track's isolated piano motif that gains increasing strength towards the chorus before the backing vocals sung a cappella lead us out of the track - a fascinating glimpse into the individual elements of a universally known and loved classic song.
