Twelve hand-picked songs by a wide variety of Russian artists, all of which were among the best Russian folk releases of the past year, are featured on this compilation, showing just how unique and versatile Russian folk music can be. "Russian World Music Chart 2021" is released as a CD on FOLK GALORE The Russian World Music Chart (RWMC) has only existed since October 2021, the purpose of which is to draw the attention of the world music community to the novelties of folk music of multinational Russia, as well as popularization and support in promoting unique musicians from remote corners of the Russian Federation and abroad. The international jury, including 16 representatives from Australia, Norway, the USA, Hungary, Slovakia, Germany, Belgium, Catalonia, the Czech Republic and Russia, selected and announced the 20 best albums by the end of the year, twelve selected songs of which are represented on the present compilation.
