Surprise: The Killers are releasing their new, seventh studio album as early as August 2021. "Pressure Machine" is the name of the follow-up to their number one album "Imploding The Mirage," which the American rock heroes only released in 2020. As with many other artists, the Corona pandemic ensured that the band suddenly had plenty of time to write new music. And they used it well. The Killers began to explore their art and put the frustration into music. Sower Brandon Flowers describes his emotional state and new sound as follows: "It was the first time for me in a long time that I was confronted with silence. And out of that silence, this record began to blossom, full of songs that would have otherwise been too quiet and drowned out by the noise of typical Killers records." In fact, "Pressure Machine" is the band's most understated and sonorous album, thematically as well as musically dealing with their ties to home and growing up in a lonely place in the American South: the small town of Nephi, where Flowers spent his youth: "A lot of the memories of my time in Nephi are tender. But the ones that involved fear or great sadness were emotionally charged. I have more understanding now than I did when we started the band, and hopefully I've been able to do justice to those stories and life in this small town where I grew up," the singer said. The album was co-produced by the band, Shawn Everett and Jonathan Rado, who worked together on the last Killers record. Pressure Machine" will also feature a duet with singer-songwriter Phoebe Bridgers. The Killers formed in 2001, and after a series of early lineup changes, since 2002 the band has consisted of Brandon Flowers (vocals, keyboards, bass), Dave Brent Keuning (lead guitar, background vocals), Ronnie Vannucci Jr. (drums, percussion) and Mark Stoermer (bass, rhythm guitar, background vocals). By 2020 they had released six studio albums, all of which reached number one in the UK charts. Album number seven will be released in 2021: "Pressure Machine".
