Popis
"Oxymore" is a musical journey in which Pierre Henry's sounds interact with Jarre's new composition in a sonic mirror play in which the creator of Oxygene finds his inverted double in "Oxymore" and opens a vortex that draws the listener into an anachronistic back and forth in which analog and digital find a common playground. The project is inspired by the French movement "musique concrete" (concrete music), a genre of musical composition that uses recorded sounds as raw material. The movement was first developed in the 1940s and revolutionized the way music is produced. With "Oxymore," Jarre takes this concept and reinvents it with the tools of today. The album was conceived as an immersive work in one of the places of origin of concrete music, the innovation studios of Radio France (where Jarre began experimenting with sound early in his career), in a multichannel and binaural 3D version. Multi-channel binaural sound will revolutionize the way music is composed, mixed and produced, placing sounds and textures in 360 degrees in space and easily experienced by any listener with headphones. "Oxymore" is the first commercial release of this magnitude, taking the future of music and sound to this new level. Jarre said, "This is a real watershed moment for audio and sound recording. 'Oxymore' is an attempt to illustrate and explore these new possibilities of combining technology and music. We now have technologies that allow us to explore compositions in spatial sound, and this opens up a whole new experience for us musicians in the creative process. For the listener, too, it offers the experience of a more physical and natural way of hearing sound and music. In real life, our audio field is 360 degrees." "Oxymore" was composed specifically with the spatial sound experience in mind; in fact, I feel that the stereo mix itself is even wider and has gained more space as a result. I'm convinced that this is how music will be composed and produced in the future. The emotion for the listener is also a huge leap, like when we switched from mono to stereo.
