On her debut album for Decca Classics, the young pianist Isata Kanneh-Mason has recorded works by one of the most important composers of the Romantic period - Clara Schumann. Like her brother Sheku Kanneh-Mason, the pianist is currently studying at the Royal Academy of Music in London. Her impressive experience includes intimate recitals as well as chamber music evenings in various formations and concerts with large orchestras.
For the album "Romance" she has recorded music from different phases of Clara Schumann's life, from the youthful Piano Concerto in A minor, Op. 7, with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, to the mature splendour of her Piano Sonata in G minor. Clara had composed the Piano Concerto at the age of fourteen and premiered it 2 years later at the Leipzig Gewandhaus under the baton of Felix Mendelssohn. Other works on the album are the 3 Romances op. 11, the Scherzo No. 2 op. 14 and the 3 Romances op. 22.
The pianist cleverly combines this music with rarely recorded transcriptions of Robert Schumann's songs: including his famous Mondnacht. "Romance" is a successful debut, presenting works from different creative phases and thus vividly revealing Clara Schumann's compositional development. Prihlásenie
