The Verbier Festival Orchestra's partnership with Yuri Temirkanov in the live recording of Shostakovich's Symphony No. 10 presented here reflects the spirit and intentions behind this spectacular Festival: to facilitate and promote outstanding musical performances while encouraging musical collaboration with young emerging and already widely known artists. Temirkanov received his training in Leningrad, the place that inspired Shostakovich to compose his "Leningrad" Symphony No. 7.
