It was only when she became harpist of the Norrköping Symphony Orchestra that Delphine Constantin-Reznik came across the name Anton Edvard Pratté, a celebrated harpist and composer during his lifetime. Her research into this forgotten master has now led to this SACD featuring premiere recordings of some of his many harp compositions. Pratté came from Bohemia from a family that ran a travelling puppet theatre. He came to Sweden as a teenager and quickly made a name for himself as a performer. He gave concerts throughout Scandinavia and in 1840 embarked on a major European tour to Berlin, Vienna, Prague and elsewhere. But he spent most of his life in Norrköping, where he earned his living as a harp teacher and was for a time also conductor of the local orchestra, the predecessor of today's symphony orchestra.
